Briana Cravens began her dance journey at the age of three in Littleton, CO. Her early training in classical ballet and tap laid the foundation for a vibrant exploration of movement, which expanded to include jazz, modern, and hip hop by the age of ten. This passion ignited a deep love for dance, prompting Briana to join her studio’s competitive dance team and showcase her talents in musicals such as Chicago and Kiss Me Kate, where she earned the role of dance captain.
Driven by her desire to share her passion, she began teaching at her local studio at 16, leading charity dance workshops in schools, and advocating for special needs support within dance programs.
To further her aspirations, Briana attended the University of South Carolina, where she earned a degree in Dance Education and danced with the USC Dance Company. During her senior year, she discovered the transformative field of Dance/Movement Therapy, merging her love of movement with a commitment to mental health. She pursued studies in this area at Antioch University New England, graduating with her MA in Dance/Movement Therapy and Counseling.
Since then, Briana has been dedicated to integrating movement into the mental health field, working across various settings from early intervention to behavioral schools and intensive outpatient programs. She remains actively involved in her dance community, choreographing and performing in local showcases, and performing with the Pop-up Project Dance Company and Weather Makers Dance Company.
Briana is thrilled to bring her experience and enthusiasm to the Tybee Ballet Theatre’s Adult Company, where she continues to inspire and be inspired through the art of dance.
